Getting reacquainted with the wines of Walla Walla

One of the oldest settlements in Washington, Walla Walla was a trading post for the Idaho gold rush and French fur trappers. The French being French planted vines in the area around the 1850s. But a freeze took out the vineyards and the railroad skirted through to Spokane instead, nipping this fledgling agricultural center in the bud.
